Help your Preschooler Stay in Touch All Summer

Posted on 06-28-2017

Summertime means pool days, ice cream, and fun, fun, fun! However, your preschoolers may be feeling slightly disconnected from their peers if they're away on vacation. You can help your little ones keep in touch with their friends by following any of these useful tips!

Have a water party

Invite your child's classmates or close friends (and their parents) to your house one afternoon for a day full of fun. Sprinklers, slip n' slides, and kiddie pools are perfect for keeping cool in the summer heat while catching up with friends!

Enroll in summer camp

Keep in touch with the parents of your little one's friends and schedule playdates throughout the summer. You can even enroll your children in Kids 'R' Kids of New Territory Summer Camp together! From fitness activities, to arts and crafts, to spending time in the great outdoors, your kiddos will have a blast reconnecting at Kids 'R' Kids day camp.

Write a letter

There's nothing like a handwritten letter or hand-drawn picture to say "I miss you"! Help your youngsters write letters to friends who are out of town. You can teach them how to address an envelope, where to place the stamp, and even take them to the post office to mail it themselves.

Utilize technology

It's important to unplug from technology from time to time, but resources such as Facetime are perfect for keeping in touch when you're cities or states apart. Talk with your child's friend's parents and schedule a time for your youngsters to chat on the phone or over video chat. They'll feel caught up in no time!

At the very least, be sure to plan a mini-class reunion for your preschooler and their peers as summer comes to a close so everyone can reconnect before the new school year begins!
